What does the EDUindex Gap Report stand for?
The EDUindex Gap Report stands for the curriculum that could better be represented according to the skills needed in the environment, and is represented according to frequency with which that skill is needed.
How has it been calculated?
The information represented in the Gap Report is derived from the data bases housing the records use to establish the EDUindex. For NYC, for example, the data base houses over 12 million records.
How do I read and interpret the report?
There is a special section on the website that tells you what the columns mean on your report. Your Account Executive can also give suggestions as to how to use the report to your best advantage, when they meet with you. EDUindex, Inc. is not in the business of criticism or judgment, and would not pretend to know better how to educate our youth than those who are doing it now; we just offer information to help.
How can I incorporate some of the suggestions and still meet core needs?
There are numerous requirements on schools now, and they have and will continue to change. They range from including college acceptance courses to preparing students; to means of teaching in order to do well on NCLB tests, as well as SAT, and ACT tests. In addition to these courses schools offer electives, these have been driven by history and recommendations. Naturally the Gap Reports can help greatly in this regard. It covers what is not readily “seen.” It also provides a welcomed set of “what is now,” to offer options for later career paths, and consequent preparedness. Many cities, like Phoenix Arizona, are offering online options for High School students, and considerations of eight week online modules. This allows for more elective coverage.
Will my report change, how often?
Yes, the Gap Report and EDUindex will change according to changes in curriculum and changes in the environment. This will help America stay abreast of dynamic changes in technology, the work place, new skills needed for newly changing activities in our lives, rather than being stagnant.
